UOS is a stand-alone Universal OPC Server for field devices that use TCP/IP or Serial communications. UOS
provides a real-time interface between field devices and OPC Clients such as
Intellutions Dynamics, Object Automation's OA Enterprise, Wonderware's FactorySuite
2000, and many others. UOS can also be used with Intellution's FIX32 Version 6.15 and 7.x. |
|
Multiple Protocol Support
UOS can support different device protocols on the same comm port (or channel). UOS can
also support a different device protocol on each comm port. One server is required to
support multiple different devices like a Modicon PLC, SixNet I/O, Watlow 988 controller,
etc. |
|
TCP/IP and Serial Connection Support UOS can support TCP/IP and serial connections simultaneously. |
|
Redundancy UOS has two levels of
redundancy, Channel (communications connection) and Device. |
|
OPC Server Build Wizard - UOS is the only
OPC server in the industry that has the capability to "learn" how to communicate
with a device. It does this by reading a device profile that describes the communications
characteristics (protocol) of the device. This capability provides a method for you to
build your own OPC Server by using the UOS Profiler (sold separately). No programming
skills are required. To build a profile, select "communication
objects" that comprise the protocol and assign attributes. Profile examples are
supplied to assist you. The combination of UOS and the UOS Profiler provides an easy way
to develop an OPC Server without sacrificing data integrity or throughput. Profiles built
by DSI for UOS are shown in the UOS Profile List. |
|
Complete Server Control - Provides the
capability to Enable/Disable each channel, device or datablock. A group control for
enabling/disabling datablocks is also provided. |
|
Backup Support - Provides support to
switch automatically or under program control to a backup channel or device. |
|
Complete Data Read/Write Control -
Provides support to Read or Write data or control actions under program control.
Read/Write control can be directed to any datablock. Very important for writing multiple
controller tuning parameter simultaneously. |
|
Built-in Datascope - Provides a built-in
datascope for troubleshooting communications between UOS and field devices. You can
display message streams in hex or ASCII. You can also dump message streams to a file. |
|
Detailed Diagnostics - Provides
independent diagnostic reporting for each comm port (channel), device, and datablock.
Reported message properties include: Transmit Count, Receive count, Good match count,
Error match count, No match count, Timeout count, Retry count, and others. |
|
Built-in DataView - Provides a built-in DataView client which allows you to browse
all UOS server data. You can create pop-up windows to view and write device data in
real-time. This is a powerful feature that can be used for production supervisory control
as well as verifying your data and troubleshooting. |
|
Failure and Error Initialization
UOS has the capability to execute special datablocks on communications failure, on
receiving an error response or both. |
|
Device Initialization UOS allows
you to specify a command group (datablock) as an initialization sequence. The sequence
will be sent to the device on startup to initialize the device. This action does not
require any program logic. |
|
Variable view UOS provides a
special window to view all attributes of a data variable. Variable name, description, Data
type, number of elements in an array, access rights (read/write) and others. It is not
necessary to guess how to use a variable. |
|
For FIX users only, Creation of database block from
the power tool UOS allows you to create FIX database blocks directly from
the PowerTool. All configuration can be done from one place. |
|
Command Group Information Window - UOS
provides an information window for each datablock command group. It provides special
instructions on how to use a command group. For example, for Modbus RTU protocol,
instructions show valid modbus registers, addressing range, modbus command codes used,
etc. A special button is provided for quick access. |
|
Context Sensitive Electronic Documentation Click in any field and press F1 to get information on the field. |
|
Unsolicited Data - UOS supports receiving
unsolicited data from a serial device. For example, barcode readers, weight scales, etc. |
|
Radio Support - Provides primary and
backup radio support: RTS Keyup, RTS Keydown, and RTS Turnaround |
|
Phone Support - Provides primary and
backup support for a telephone modem. To use, enter the phone number and select the
Telephone transmission mode. |
|
Port Sharing - UOS will share the same
computer comm port with other applications. |
|
Error Recovery - UOS provides errory
recovery for both primary and backup devices. Parameters supported are: Reply timeout,
Retries, and Delay Time. |
|
Polling - UOS provides primary and
secondary polling rates. If no data is requested during a pre-defined period of time
(Access Time), UOS automatically shifts to the secondary polling rate. This saves system
resources. |
